Khajjiar is a stop, not a stay-a-week destination — a saucer-shaped meadow with a small lake at its centre, ringed by deodar forest at around 1,950 m. The 12th-century Khajji Nag temple sits at the meadow’s edge, and a short walk or pony ride covers most of what’s here. It works best as a half-day break between Dalhousie and Chamba rather than a base of its own.
