Narkanda sits about 65 km beyond Shimla on the old Hindustan-Tibet road, in the heart of Himachal’s apple country. Samuel Evans Stokes introduced apple cultivation to the surrounding orchards in the 1910s, and that legacy still shapes the area. Hatu Peak, the region’s high point, rises just above the town.
