Palampur is Himachal’s tea country — cultivation here dates to 1849–1852, when the British botanist Dr. Jameson introduced Chinese Camellia sinensis plants, and working estates still shape the town’s identity today. On its edge, the Neugal Khad — a roughly 305 m wide, 100-metre-plus gorge — cuts across the plateau, with a café overlooking the drop.
